Waste Free Wednesdays!!!

Officially starting on Wednesday, April 4th, PlayGreen will be hosting Waste Free Wednesday lunches! This amazing idea came to us from Heather Ponder who regularly practices this lovely landfill saving idea.

You'll see the first post about it coming up in the GPC Backstage newsletter to be published in the next few weeks.

So what is a 'waste free lunch'?

A waste-free lunch begins with a statement. We have already decided to make waste reduction at PlayNetwork a priority, and one of the best places to continue this is with lunch and snack waste. Whether the majority of employees brings lunch from home or goes out to eat, there's almost always room for improvement. A waste-free lunch program is a process of educating all of us about where our trash ends up and how we, as individuals, can reduce the amount of trash we generate.

Waste-free lunch programs favor the use of reusable food containers, drink containers, utensils, and napkins. They discourage the use of disposable packaging, such as prepackaged foods, plastic bags, juice boxes and pouches, paper napkins, and disposable utensils.

What will it mean for PlayNetwork?

Every Wednesday we'll post to our blog about little ways to go waste free in your lunches and we'll continue to encourage you to pack your waste free lunch. Keep your eyes open, there may be a contest or a giveaway coming soon!
