OLYMPIA, WA (KPTV) -
A Washington woman is going to the extreme to reduce her carbon footprint.
Dee Williams lives in a unique home in Olympia that is only 84 square feet.
The two-story home has a small kitchen and bathroom on the first floor and a bed in the loft.
What the home doesn't have is running water.
That means she doesn't have the convenience of a regular toilet.
Williams uses a composting toilet.
Instead of flushing, she adds a layer of peat moss after each use and then empties it into her garden when it starts to get full.
Williams says giving up some modern amenities was tough at first, but she says the transition was worth it.
The home cost $10,000 and is made of mostly recycled material.
