Philanthropic Party was GREAT!!!

A portion of our team went out on Saturday to help out at Camp Long. Upon arriving we were given work boots, gloves and a sign in sheet. From Play there were 6 of us and we were joined by a Boy Scout troop from Bellevue.

photo op!

Before we got started, Christine, one of the Naturalists at Camp Long gave us a little background and history of the site itself.....

...and then it was time to work....

Starting with transferring some dirt from the piles it was in, into a ditch...and then the fun stuff started!

....the fun stuff? Digging out blackberry bushes....the ground was actually pretty perfect for this type of activity. Due to all the rain we've had recently the soil was pretty wet and made it easier to rip those suckers out!

although easier, still tough work....

Good Job Kris!!

Michelle more then conquered her share of blackberry bushes!

After we made quick work of what was a blackberry field, we moved on to getting some trees planted. A local youth organization donated $1000 of plants to Camp Long and they needed to get into the ground.

This is Jason, he was our "tour guide" for the day!

Check out that team work!!!

Kris and Mitch working with Stuart, another Naturalist at Camp Long.

"Gotta throw some more dirt in there, needs to be this high!"

PERFECT!

My boyfriend (Rob) and I getting kudos for getting this cutie tree in the ground. And then we got handed a rake to uncover the moss we covered up. Moss is critical in the forest for wildflowers to grow!

Getting the last one in the ground....

THANKS JASON!!!
